I commuted from Route 3 for 6 years, but have since been away for 5 years. I drive daily, and used to go in the morning before HOV hours, and always picked-up slugs to get home.
Before I move back to Route 3 area, I'm trying to find out the impact of HOT LANES, and the elimination of "non-HOV hours." Overall, is the commute any faster or slower? Will I be able to pick up slugs any earlier in the morning, or later in the evening?
Appreciate any insight anyone may have- thanks!

Yes to all your questions. There seems to be more flexibility with slugs & drivers for earlier & later hours. I don't know about Gordon Rd area - you may have to go to RT17 or 610 lots, but you shouldn't have too much problems
