There is a guy that slugs at the 143 lot that has rubbed many the wrong way. He criticizes the rest of the "sluggers" because we choose to wait in our cars rather than brave the weather as he does, some for medical reasons. We have tolerated him until now. As is usual, many people put their things down in line to hold their spot and return to their car, unless they choose to stand. Normally, a car pulls up, we get out of our cars as we see the car pulling up, and head over to see where they are going. They yell the location and whomever is next in line gets the ride. Well today, this guy decided to ignore the 2 ladies running towards the ride. He ignored them, knowing they were next, got in the car and the driver drove off. It's so sad that someone would be that selfish to do such a thing so often. It's also frustrating that there is no way to hold them accountable for their rude, immature, and selfish behaviors. If he continues doing this, i can see it becoming an issue in that new slugs and others in general will turn the now organized line into a free for all. Any ideas on how to handle this |

Yeah. I know how to handle it. Stand in the line or lose your ride to the next one who does so. |

I concur with mycroftt, I consider only those that are actually standing in line in front of me as being eligible for the next ride. |

Another thing about riders who wait in their cars. When a ride pulls up, it takes time for you to get out of your car, grab your bags, lock your car and walk over to the car offer you a free ride. Don't you consider that inconsiderate and rude to your driver?
Drivers, you don't have to put up with this inconsiderate behavior. Riders, wait in line and be ready to go when a ride pulls up. And thank your driver for the free ride. |

This topic has come up before. Slugs need to wait in line, no placeholders no matter what time you show up or how bad the weather is. If you're sitting in your car, you're not waiting in line.
Which 143 line are you talking about? I assume you mean Exit 143, which is either the 610 Mine Road lot or the 610 "old" lot. |

Never thought of it that way because i have been at this slug lot for several months and everyone does the same thing. I guess it is the unofficial rule there until that one guy came along. I say he is rude not just because of the "skipping" incident, but because of what the other people in line have told me and what i have seen for myself. He makes silly comments, but clearly, it is just his character. Again, thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Maybe i will call the police B Squad and see if they can help search all of our non attended bags. |

By the way, the stand in line is not a few minutes. Many of us are out there for at least 1 hour. I am usually out there for about 1.5 hours or more before a ride comes unless we get luck and get someone to show up within 1 hour. |

I10619, where is the "143 Line" exactly? I guess I have been falling behind on my Admin duties because I do not have this listed on the website. |

IF this is Route 610, exit 143, no way do people wait that long for a ride in the morning and I have never seen anyone put their bags in line and then run for their cars.
I can't imagine anyone waiting for an hour and a half. That's my whole commute INCLUDING the wait! |

AA, I agree. That means he's getting there at 4am to stand in line until 5:30 when cars start picking up. It's dark and you're tired so it probably seems like over an hour wait but I agree, that's not happening at the old 610 lot in the 10 years I've slugged out of there.
When VDOT was doing their time study survey last year at that lot, I believe one of the gentlemen said that the first slugs started showing up around 5am or a little after to start the line. |
