I've been slugging from Lorton VRE station for about 5 years. It's always been hit or miss but lately it is really bad. I usually catch a ride around 7:30 but for the past couple of weeks I have had to wait until nearly 8:00 along with several other riders. With the 7:30 VRE train changing to 7:20, the backup plan has been scrapped. I've heard similar stories from other riders as well. Does anyone know why the sudden drop in the number of drivers?
I have one other question. How can we slug back to Lorton from DC or even the Pentagon? There's not a Lorton sign at Pentagon at least not that I've seen. And the whole wait in the bus line and see if someone asks you to ride with them thing does not work. If you have any info on slugging back to Lorton, please share. Along with schedule changes, the VRE has also increased their fare so my friends and I are eager to find a VRE alternative.

Do you think some drivers don't drive as often now and have become slugs due to the higher gasoline prices? Seems to me the afternoon lines of slugs at the Pentagon have become longer recently, but that could also be due to the nicer weather we've had in the past month. It might be worth a survey to see if many drivers have cut back and for what reasons. Good luck on improving the slugging situation at Lorton. [:)][?]
