We are new to 'slugging' & are thinking of moving to Dumfries. We wondered if anyone could give us some information about the general commuting time from Dumfries to the Constitution/23rd area. Does anyone commute between these places?

In general, what you are looking for is a ride to 18th Street with a drop-off at constitution and Henry Bacon Drive (by the Lincoln Memorial) which puts you between 21st and 22nd. There are rare drivers who go up 20th street and even more rare that go up 23rd.
Most of the drivers who pick up at the Dumfries commuter lot are headed for the Pentagon. You can take a metro ride from there is you wish. The good thing is that the commuter lot has two buses that pickup/drop off from there; The South Route 1 and the Monclair lines. The South Route 1 also pickup at the Dumfries Shopping Plaza, which is a good place to park.
Commute time using the bus or slug/metro is about 1hr 30m.
I prefer to drive to the Horner Road commuter lot and slug using an 18th street ride. Using back roads to get to the lot (avoid 95), the total commute time is about 60 minutes. I ride the Dale City bus to get back to the commuter lot.
If you get into a car pool or van pool, you should be able to get to DC in 45 minutes from the time you leave Dumfries.

Kindest Regards,

mroyal

We were hoping to pick up a slug in Dumfries & aim somewhere towards 23rd St. Is this route not really used then?
