Now that the Express lanes are open is there anyone out there interested in starting up slug lines from Woodbridge to Tyson's?

I am interested. I have been trying to start a line at the Route 123 Commuter Lot where the Tysons Express bus stops. I usually don't have too much trouble poaching slugs from the bus stop, but it seems that there are several there who are wary of slugging. I'm hoping that Tysons commuters will grow more comfortable with it over time. Really, I'm not a serial killer, I promise.

Definitely interested. I just started taking the Tyson's Express bus, but would love to see a slug option as well.

All, my colleague and I are commuting to Tyson's. I pick her up from I95&123 Lot at 7:45am. We are looking for someone to join us so we can jump on HOV/Express Lines. We work at Deloitte Building right off of Westpark. We typically leave Tyson's by 5pm, say 4:45pm.
If you are interseted please let me know. Thanks!

The 123 lot is a great place for a line to start. In the evening, we need a standard place in Tyson to pick up people. Where on Westpark Dr. would be a central place to pick up people?

At what point would be best to pick up sluggers at Westpark Drive and at what time in the afternoon? I am coming from Frederick and it took me about 45 minutes to arrive on that area. My final destination is at Woodbridge and it is every M W F.

Hi Fellow Tysons Commuters:
I will be commuting to Tysons starting sometime next week. I'd like to join a slug group and/or start slugging from the Woodbridge area and I see there are others doing this thank goodness. Has a "line" started at a lot and how is it working once you get to the Tysons area in the afternoon? My job location will be near 2070 Chain Bridge Rd. at Rt 123 just after Rt 7.

How is the traffic taking HOV lanes there and back from Woodbridge normal 8-5 business hours for you guys?

Thanks!

email me at MichelleGerhardt4@gmail.com for slugging interest to Tysons and back from the Woodbridge area.

Hi, there is a Woodbridge-Tysons Corner bus route. Here is the link for the route from the PRTC bus website if you are interested. http://www.prtctransit.org/commuter-bus/schedules/tysonscorner-am.html.

However, this bus route is going to be eliminated by the PRTC in November 2014 according to the announcement on their website. http://www.prtctransit.org/myprtc/service-updates/service_updates.php?docid=100
Those of us who ride the bus and have contacted PRTC and our delegates for a hearing received responses that this seems to be a done deal already.

Bus riders/commuters have talked about starting a slug line to Tysons Corner. The biggest question is the pick up and drop off locations. Since we're so spread out in Tysons Corner, someone suggested that we may need to select two places so commuters can go to the one that's closest to them. Both places should also be near public transportation (Metro and/or bus) that commuters can take if they are not picked up by the slug line.

PRTC has provided a list of links to alternate transportation options once they stop the Woodbridge-Tysons Corner route. I'm thinking that looking at these routes may be helpful in figuring out the best pick up and drop off locations for Woodbridge-Tysons Corner. Here is the list of alternate buses and Metro options from PRTC - http://www.prtctransit.org/docs/ALTERNATE_TRAVEL_OPTIONS_TO_TYSONS_CORNER.pdf

I have opened a discussion thread in the New Slug Lines forum to find out possible pick up and crop off points so we can start a Woodbridge-Tysons Corner slug line. It is under "Starting a Tysons Corner Slug Line" if you want to join.

Any suggestions, ideas, etc. would be most welcome. [:)]

I am looking for sluggers from Woodbridge to Tysons Corner - I was thinking on picking up somewhere at Tacketts, Horner or Hechingers and then dropping off at Spring Hill Metro or any place from route 7 spring hill metro to West Falls Church since that is where I will be working. Anyone interested in being sluggers please let me know. I would pick up Tuesday May 26th around 615am or so and then on the return I can pick up around 445p (but not sure since starting a new job) guaranteed ride to Tysons though. Let me know if anyone is interested or if there is a line I am not aware of PLEASE. Thank you

I am new to the Northern Virginia area. I live in Dumfries (234 and I-95). I work in McLean on Jones Beach Drive. I work Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 5:00 (hours can be adjusted). I am interested in slugging, carpooling, driving my own car, anything to alleviate (reduce commute time). I have a newer, properly insured and registered sedan that sits 5. I am a safe driver, no moving violation, accidents, or DUIs ever. Please contact me via this forum or email me directly at: lopezjose707@rocketmail.com

Thank you.

My hours are flexible but I would prefer to pickup anywhere between 730-8a in Woodbridge & pickup around 4-4:30p in Tysons/McLean, but again, I am flexible on times. I am looking for riders ASAP!

Thanks everyone!

Hi AK,
I got your email regarding the app and still very interested in slugging to Tysons from Woodbridge. I do the commute now and use the express ways and it's costing me a lot of money.
Can you tell me how the app works?

Thanks,

Hi Homa, thank you for your interest.
You can think about the app as "a virtual slug-line". App alows drivers to offer ride and passengers to join it. So you will secure your passengers/driver before coming to meeting point. All other aspects of slugging remains the same: meeting at specific points, free, etc. I would suggest to download and register in the app. If you have more questions, please let me know here or at aklymchuk@gmail.com.

Also if you know people who might be interested in coommuting to Tysons, please share information about the community and app.
The app will allow to offer and join ride as enough people registered.
