This morning I ran into folks giving out paper to sign up for issue with extending HOV. I did not take the paper because it does not take a rocket scientist to know that they just need to extend the HOV. If these officials work in DC, and know that they are press for time to get home, they will move and extend the HOV. After all, we are tax payers and we need the service. By the way, I paid my car tax last month...too.

I did take the paper and filled out the online survey. Yes, we all know that extending HOV to the 'Burg is a no-brainer but the survey was also looking for data on distance from home to commuter lot, the windows of time traveled, etc. It was trying capture data to show where people travel from to use the F'burg, Stafford or PW lots.

This morning an individual was at the 610 lot counting each slug and the time they got in line (the first commuter showed up at 4:45am). He inferred that the data will also be used to look at the parking issues. Items like building parking garages were mentioned as alternatives to expanding lot sizes.

It appears that VDOT is trying to put some quantitative analysis to this process but in the end it will all come down to money.

I saw the teenagers wandering half asleep with VDOT ID's and clipboards at 610 this morning as well..not too optimistic.

This is a shared system folks. Most of us were raised with manners, it's time to start using them.

XOXO- sluggin' girl

The VDOT-badged gentlemen that was chatting with the person next to me looked more than proficient so I'll hold out some hope. He said he had been there since 3:30. I didn't see the teenagers, maybe they were on break [;)]
