Does anyone know when the commuter parking lot on Backlick road will open for business? People who drive by say it's pretty much done and ready to go, but I have not seen any announcements or sign at Bob's to let the current commuters know when the switch to Backlick commuter parking will take place. Thanks.

The Backlick Road commuter lot is not replacing the slug line for Bob's & Circuit City in Springfield.
This is an additional commuter lot where riders & drivers can meet. When the county built the commuter lot at Sydenstricker, riders & drivers formed a separate slug line to/from the Pentagon.

Thanks for the info... I was under the impression that the Backlick parking lot was going to replace Bob's. Thanks again.

If the private land owners and developers decide to close the Bob's lot and associated parking, this new Backlick lot could be used as an alternative for those lines now at Bob's.
Otherwise the new Backlick lot is just that -- a new lot, and new slug lines could be started there if there is enough interest. (There are two or three earlier strings of postings about this new lot and its potential use by slugs elsewhere on this site. Here's one: http://www.slug-lines.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6200 )
VDOT's website says the new Backlick lot opens in December.
