I get off of work at 4:45 everyday and I'm always available if anyone needs an extra rider in the afternoon. Thanks!

I am definitely interested in an evening slug line to 17 from 14th street. Currently, I get off at 5:00 and I am catching the bus at 13th and New York. Where along 14th were you thinking? Do you have any more info and have you received any responses from drivers?
Thanks,
Susan K. Buchanan

I'm a driver looking for riders at 5:00 on 14th Street (work @ 14th & L). I have not been able to locate anyone slugging to 17 (only folks going to Rt. 610). The only Rt. 17 people I encounter are the "bus riders" on 14th St. near Borders and they turn their backs when they see a "driver" stopping to ask if anyone is interested in slugging. Where along 14th St. are the Route 17 sluggers lining up? I'll do anything to stay away from the Pentagon! Wherever you guys line up...drivers will be sure to follow...Hope to see you soon.

I am definitely trying to start the momentum for a line at 14th & G to 17 starting at about 5:10 or so! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO RIDERS AND DRIVERS TO JOIN THE MOVEMENT!! It's the perfect location because it's also a bus stop, so if you can't catch a ride, you'll also be able to catch the 6pm bus. I will do anything to avoid catching the Metro to the Pentagon for a ride. PLEASE TELL EVERYONE SO WE ALL CAN AVOID THE TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE BUS, ROUTE 610 AND THE PENTAGON!! Thanks!

I am definitely interested in both slugging and picking up slugs on 14th Street. (I will be driving 1-2x/week.) However, I don't get off work until 5 or 5:15 and couldn't get to 14th until about 5:10-5:20 p.m. Does anyone else have those hours?

Well, it sounds like a plan. Lets get it rolling. What do we do to start a line? If anyone has noticed things at the Pentagon are just getting worse. Now they are tearing up the ground and have some type of contstruction going on.
Gintonic, I always welcome a ride home and get off at 4:45,m but wouldnt mind waiting. If you are a regular driver and need people in the afteroon that would be great for me and maybe someone else can do the same. I dont think there is a regular 17 line yet on 14, but I have heard that folks stand at the Woodbridge or 610 lines with signs. I would just be too nervous that I wouldnt get a ride home by doing that.

I've been standing at the corner of 14th & G where the bus has a 6:00 pick up to 17. It's also where the people stand to slug to 610. That way if you don't catch a ride, you can still catch the bus!
Thanks,
Susan

Susan,
Do you normally get a ride home? I am on 13th and G and that would be perfect for me. Is that in front of the book store over there? I can't remember if it's Barnes and Nobles or Borders.

I am considering moving to spotsylvania co. , but I am concerned about the commute. I was wondering how long it takes to get from rt. 17 to 18th. I also would be interested in joining a carpool..Are there lots of rides home at this time? What is the best way to commute from rt 17 to dc, and home again?

Don't do it!! Stafford County is overcrowded and the planning of the roads, schools etc. stinks. Unless of course you like grid-locked traffic everywhere, poor roads, schools that lack teachers because the teachers are underpaid. Think twice before moving to Stafford.

I leave Rt.17 at 6:25 then I go to Horner Road and slug in. I get to 14th and Penn between 7:30-8:00 I hope this helped.

I dont know about Spotsylvania, but I live in Stafford county and I dont have a problem at all. Sometimes it can be hard to get a ride downtown and lately the line in the evenings have been pretty long, but I have never been without a ride. I have a 3rd grader and also she is doing very well in school. You have the Martz bus, which costs way too much money, but its good to try to keep tickets on you just in case. There is the VRE, which is just way too slow. I think the best bet is to slug or if you can find a carpool that would be great also. Or as mentioned you can always drive a little further up north. Hope this helps.

Ok!
I am going to take the initiative to show leadership in getting this line started. If you would please, respond to this post indicating the following:
**Time that you typically arrive or plan to arrive at Rt. 17 in the morning
**The time range that you need to be in DC
**DC Destination point
**Desired time range that you need to leave DC
**Plan to drive only?
**Plan to ride only?
**Plan to ride and drive
Optional - contact number or e-mail
Thanks for your help and lets get this started!!!!!
Trish
P.S. I will be posting another e-mail/posting with detailed information later this morning. Gotta run to a meeting right now.

Thanks so much for taking the initiatve! I had set aside time this morning to do it myself after getting the ball rolling, but you beat me to it. Did you click on the link to start a new line on the slug-line homepage?
I am currently temping, but here is my info:
Arrive at 17: between 7:15 and 7:30
Need to be in DC: by 8:45
DC destination 14th & G (office at 700 13th)
Leave DC from 14th & G: 5:10 - 5:15
I plan to ride only for now
You can contact me through my e-mail and I'll provide my numbers. Hopefully my location and times won't change too much with my next positions. I think 14th & G is a great location since it's already a slug line area and a bus stop. My suggestion for the evening would be for riders to plan to pick up from at least 4:00 to 5:30.
Thanks,
Susan

I leave 17 from 6:45-7:15
Leave DC 4:45-5:00
I work on 13th and F, right around the corner from Borders
I ride mostly, but plan to drive more as the weather gets a little colder
Thanks, I hope this idea works

I am looking for a pretty regular ride from either 13th & G at 5:05 or 14th & G at 5:10 to route 17. Is anyone able to give me a ride?
Thanks!
Thanks,
Susan
