Good article in today's Wall Street Journal (Personal Journal) about the federal hybrid tax credit. Since Toyota has sold 60,000 hybrids, the tax credit is going to be cut in half starting Oct 1. (There is a 60,000 limit on the credit for each carmaker). For the Prius, the credit will be reduced from $3100 to $1550. Then after another 6 months it will be cut in half again. This is just for Toyota, since the other automakers haven't sold as many hybrids.

And Toyota management does not think the end of the credit will hurt sales. VERY interesting. Just what I have been saying.

This will complicate NoSUV's life. The tax credit is one of the primary factors in his equation.

Only part of the equation. Anyone read about global warming or do you just look at articles that discuss money? But a hybrid or get on the bus!

Don't rechargeable batteries get warm as they get powered up? Maybe global warming is being caused by the heat generated by all the hybrids running and getting re-charged? [8D]

Not only that, but they release a great deal of smug into the air.
