My roommate's coworker was mugged on her way to work on Jan 18 by the driver who picked her up. I don't have all the details, but I hope she will post them for us. I believe she was slugging from Horner Rd to 14th St.

I'll believe this when I see the police report in the Potomac News. Sorry, but I'm a little skeptical of this report and the possible motivation behind it. If it is the case, we will get some info on it after contacting the police and I will post it.

Reports like this, with no relevant details, actually do more harm than good. "I heard..." and "it happened to my friend" stories never do anyone any good. I'm not saying this didn't happen, but I must join my skeptical voice to the call for constructive details.

I think that it is a good idea to post warnings like this, but there should be some sort of evidence, not the she said he said stuff. Especially the next time a black acura pulls up at the slug lines, and a slug rememebers this post!!

I drove terratoo home yesterday. She called her friend to let her know about the long wait in the slug lines due to the traffic and they spoke of the event on the phone. Terratoo did not want to ask her friend too much information because her friend was still pretty upset about the morning's event. I suggested that she post the story on this website to allert others. I hope that the police are able to find out more information and that terratoo keeps us updated. Thanks terratoo!

Listen, I understand the skepticism and it made me quickly realize that I should have never made this posting. I should have given the actual person who experienced these events to make the post herself (and I hope that she still will). My only intention was to spread the word as quickly as possible.

Please don't misunderstand. We very much appreciate the information and are quite sad to hear it. In order for us to properly prevent a future occurrence, however, we need specifics. "Two black guys in an Acura" doesn't do any good.

So was anyone able to confirm this story?

I am always amazed at how blase' many women are regarding their personal safety. I am always flabbergasted when i see women standing alone waiting for a ride - and in the dark.

women shouldnt get into a car unless other sluggers where already in the car. all someone has to do is threaten a woman[or person] with a weapon until they get out of the pentagon.

i hope most women realize the INFREQUENCY of the news reports or even women's own reporting of assualts on women to the police. many woman dont even bother to report it. its sad and anguishing.

im glad this topic came up whether its been doubted or not.

i once picked up a woman at the pentagon and she knew the others in the car were getting off before her at a different location [them to stafford, she to fburg]. she was alone with me in my car and i felt uncomfortable, like feeling embarassed FOR someone else.

i pass women jogging alone in lonely forested fairfax area parks. we pass alone in the middle of the woods. these women are nuts. albeit they are often young. do women realize its not as safe as they hear about? most cases of assault you will never hear about. the frequency of occurrence is much higher than it seems.

food for thought.

ive sometimes pondered the development of women-only slug cars. i brought up the topic in a slug car once [i think i did] and the topic was arrogantly dismisssed as too inconvenient and unrealistic. people here so often seem to thin kthey know it all. until its them. too cocky for their own good.

i personally know so many women who have been sexually assualted. its bewildering.

sorry, my comments were driven by another friend being added to the list on that day but this just makes my comments all the more important.

"all someone has to do is threaten a woman with a knife until they get out of the pentagon."
Not to be BLASE, but Huh?
I share and understand the concern, but if a single woman isn't supposed to wait for a ride by herself after dark, just what is she supposed to do? I've heard it said that a single woman rider should not be left alone and that a "real man" should give up his ride so that she doesn't have to wait alone. Which is nice, where possible, but it's not always possible, now is it? Different locations and all that.

I saw it on the internet -- so it has to be true.

Maybe we should suggest that this whole line be removed since it looks like it has no basis in fact.

Except that rings of censorship.

Let's "slug the mugger" who "mugged the slugger" - and remember, "only you can prevent forest fires"!
Be careful out there and
Keep on sluggin'! [;)]

All this is a true story the women is my co-worker and a friend of mine. She said she is in the process of posting the story and the police report. I don't know what county it was reported in, so I don't know if it would even show up in the local papers. I understand the fact that this is all heresay to all of you and that is fine I too would be skeptical as well without any proof, and I can't do anything to change that!

I, and others, are still waiting to read the real story behind this post. If it's true, they why haven't we heard from the "victim" yet? I would think that she would want to share her experience with others, especially women sluggers. [?]

I agree, Ohio. We've all been waiting... She emailed me (via my profile on this site) after I made the original post and told me I had jumped the gun. She said that she was already in contact with the Slug-Lines webmaster about posting her story and that it would include every detail, including police report #s, etc. At this point, I'm not sure what to believe so I'll make no assumptions. For all I know, she simply changed her mind.

Terratoo pulled an ominous thread, about her roommate’s friend,
Whose trip went from Horner Road, to meet a darker end.

Chimed in Bob, a skeptical lad, skeptical by self report,
I can read the Potomac News and from there the facts, I’ll sort.

Carelic added, also in doubt, “friend of a friend, these things I heard. . . .”
Reports like this does no one good, and demanded the definitive word.

But good warning be good, if evidenced as, getmehomeplease had wrote,
And then added for other to repeated, Black Acura, oh, take note!

But a witness, of some type, Mrs S. heard something said on the phone,
Talk was talked, but info not passed, and the details remain bare bone.

Ah Terratoo, in her second post, to tell us what she knew.
But friend-o-friend is too upset, can’t yet write what is so true.

And Carelic comes back, thank you noting, but details if you would,
Friend-o-friend and stuff that I heard, the future does no good.

Baz. Oh Baz of 64 post, few words does Baz say
The sky is blue and now, falling down, you know the sky’s that way.

ScaryGreenGiant, questions direct and without worry,
So – was anyone – able – to – confirm – this story?

And Prose from Muschi, twenty lines, each on those attacked,
But friend-o-friend in not there, the details we still lack.

But that wakes up Baz, who again chimes in and pushes through the key,
a telling note of terror, “sometime ... you scare me.”

Potocol, jumps into the fray, a skeptical noting too,
We share concerns, we really feel, but “huh?” is needed too.

Defender notes, Internet facts have substance in the ether,
And strike the thread, where details lack, 'cause harm's a great repeater.

And SluDGe then mugs, that we should slug, the mugger of the slugger.
And Getmehome please, is told to be “at ease” for laughing at the bugger.

Then, finely, the post -- the story’s true! The veracity it is there.
Friend-o-friend is my coworker, adds the double-aught Keri-Bear.

Ohio7 then demands the story behind the post,
Why haven’t we heard from the “Victim” yet, he wants to know the most.

Terratoo replies, details promised, police reports take time,
But noting doubt, a warning shouts, friend-o-friend might change her mind.

And Baz in trice, a well rhymed verse, about a mugger fugger.
And the moon never beams with my arse blowing steam, when on a hot seat cover.

And VABIgBlue, finding self at end’s wit, cannot resist the pun.
So, Editor please, end this disease, and tell us this thread is done.

[Apology to all who's names I misspelled, to Sir Patrick Spense, and to the King, who sat in Dumbferling town, drinking his blue-red wine.]
