I am looking for morning rides to DC from Fred and evening rides back. I live near the Gordon Road commuter lot. I have no schedule. I just go to museums & stuff so I am very flex about time. Can anyone give me some suggestions for getting picked up off Gordon Road and dropped off near Smithsonian? Thank ya!

Well, you're gonna have some time to kill. Because slug lines work for commuters and the museums generally don't open until, what 10? The links on the pages here give a pretty good estimate of when lines start. I personally am not familiar with Gordon Road, but assume the 5:30-7 time frame is your best bet in the AM. If they go there from Gordon Road (links elsewhere here will confirm) you could get rides to L'Enfant Plaza (which puts you a few blocks from Air and Space) or to 14th Street (cross the Mall and walk east to get to things like American and Natural History.
As for getting home, I suspect you will have to Metro to the Pentagon. From there, there are good rides to Gordon starting at about 3:30. Not sure how late they run. If Gordon Road doesn't have many drivers going across the river, you can come up to Rte 17 at same time period. Again, gotta go to Pentagon to get home. |
