I am new to slugging. If I am driving slugs to Rosslyn from 395, how do I get there from the HOV Lanes? Any directions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I'd suggest taking the Memorial Bridge exit (left exit before Pentagon). Depending on what time you go to Rosslyn, your route might vary. That's due to the circle at Memorial Bridge being closed after 7AM except for DC traffic.

Thanks for the info. If the circle is closed to DC traffic only, what to do in that situation?

I believe that right after the Pentagon there's a ramp (on the right) that takes you to 110 (verify that route #). That'll take you past Arlington Cemetery and towards Rosslyn.

Can't you still take the Memorial bridge exit, bear left on 27 and loop around by Lady Bird Johnson park?
I used to exit at the Pentagon, but I'm not much help because the way I used to take has since been barricaded (S. Fern St) However, I think there is a way to still exit at the Pentagon and get onto 110, which would take you straight to Rosslyn. If you exit at the Pentagon and turn right into Pentagon city, you can get onto Washington Blvd (27) and exit at Pentagon North Parking, which loops you into 110. I've got to figure out the best way, too, since my office is moving to Rosslyn the end of this month. I'd be interested in what you find out! |

As the others have said, from the HOV lanes, take the LEFT exit for Memorial Bridge/Route 27. From there you have a couple of options:
1. Get to the far right quickly and take the exit to Pentagon North Parking/Route 110. Circle around to the right, skirting the parking lot and watching for pedestrians at the crosswalk. Pass under the overpass onto Route 110, and move left quickly to one of the two inside lanes. From these lanes, you can turn into Rosslyn, and you'll be on Wilson Blvd. Typical dropoff point is the Metro on Moore Street (first street past the light at Lynn Street). If you're going farther up Wilson, you might ask your riders if they want the Metro or farther up the hill. Many people work around 1500 Wilson and appreciate getting a ride as far as the Safeway. 2. In the other option, when you take the Route 27 exit from the HOV lanes, get into the middle lane and pass the exit for Pentagon North Parking. Pass the next exit, which takes the outside lane away, I believe, and then take the next exit for Rosslyn, Netherlands Carillon, Route 50, etc. When you swing around, you'll have to carefully merge and then follow the signs for Route 50. When you get there, get over to the far right quickly and take the next exit. At the top of the ramp, it may not be marked for right turns from two lanes, but most people do it anyway if there's a lot of traffic. From the left lane on the ramp, turn right onto the left-most lane of Lynn Street to get to the barriered left turn lane at Wilson. Turn left and then take a quick right at Moore Street to the Metro. If someone out there sees points that are confusing or in error, please correct me. |
