For much of the United States, 20th Century mass transit is not particularly efficient. People drive to the mass transit parking lot. It either costs a lot of tax dollars because of the peak demand delimina – If it doesn’t run mostly empty for much of the time, it isn’t convenient enough to discourage driving a 20th Century car. Therefore many mass transit system have worse overall passenger-miles per gallon than a car.
The computer simulation movie at http://conversantcars.com shows what 21st Century mass transit looks like. The web site is still under construction. The About & Contact info is at http://journals.aol.com/conversantcars/ConversantCars. California is looking for a life-saving traffic-laxative in a program run by Caltrans called GoCalifornia. (Although they phrased the objectives in government language.) Your comments to Governor Schwarzenegger and the Caltrans GoCalifornia managers, Tom West would help. Best you use the subject line "Transportation Challenge for Conversant Cars." Contact Governor Schwarznegger at http://www.govmail.ca.gov. |
