   For much of the United States, 20th Century mass transit is not particularly efficient.  People drive to the mass transit parking lot.  It either costs a lot of tax dollars because of the peak demand delimina � If it doesn�t run mostly empty for much of the time, it isn�t convenient enough to discourage driving a 20th Century car.  Therefore many mass transit system have worse overall passenger-miles per gallon than a car.

	California is looking for a life-saving traffic-laxative in a program run by Caltrans called GoCalifornia.  (Although they phrased the objectives in government language.)
