I got to Horner Road this morning at 8:10am because I had a flat tire and all the parking spaces were taken at the very far parking lot(where I always park and find lots of spots free). I drove around the other parking lots with the same results. I had no choice but to park illegally for the first time after 3 years of slugging.
I couldn't drive to Potomac Mills since I wasted almost 15 minutes driving around. Sometimes it's not just laziness as some mentioned in other forums. |

"Build it and they will come"
When the new lot was finished, it was mostly empty every day for the first year. Now more people use than there are parking spots available. ...maybe VDOT should make it BIGGER. LOL |

Jim,
Good one. Since enlarging the lot would make it a long walk for some, we could have a shuttle bus circle the perimeter taking slugs to their lines, just like disney! Cheers, Glacier |

will that shuttle bus be free? Otherwise, I'll prefer to walk.

Does anyone know if VDOT is considering making the lot larger?? I used to get to the lot by 7:00, but now am closer to 7:30, and the lot is almost full then, with people parking in "illegal" spots already. Kinda frustrating, but I guess it is a popular lot. I'd put in a call to VDOT if I thought it would help....

I am a tv producer for a Washington, DC news station. I am currently working on a story about commuting and slug lines. We are going to be at the lot on Thursday morning and would like to interview a few sluggers about commuting issues (parking, how easy/or not it is). Anyone interested?

emancilla,
It is amazing that this lot reaches capacity with its 2200 spaces. I will email VDOT to see if they have any plans to expand this lot but even if they do, it would be a very long term project. As for illegal parking, I do know that the PWC police department intends to begin stricter enforcement. They didn't state exactly when, but I assume in the very near future. |

quote: That lot is definitely under-utilized. I don't believe slugs use that lot at all, but would be an ideal spot if something could get started. I think the "outta the way" location has a lot to do with it. But, as you say, it's probably the easiest access to HOV.[:)] |
