   Recently I've noticed that the rider lines have grown and as I pick up new riders, I'm finding that a few (not all) do not follow basic etiquette when riding in someone else's car.  Please (please, please, please) no makeup or food.  I'm not putting on my makeup or eating.  I do not want to have to ask that you stop because I want the ride to be pleasant for everyone.

	And this isn't to offend anyone, but recently I have had two gentlemen in my car who both sat in the back and started a fairly loud conversation in their native tongue.  Conversing over the driver's radio and objection is inconsiderate.  The fact that they both sat in the back and were having an animated conversation in another language made me very uncomfortable.  (Oh, and I do speak another language other than English.)  I'm not a taxi driver (or I would have charged a fare).

	I haven't had this problem but what I have had a problem with is loud headphones ( I shouldnt be able to hear then over my radio) and ridiculously strong cologne/perfume. I promised myself the next time I would not allow the person to ride with me it made me sick !

	I'm not real thrilled with the use of perfumes and aftershaves myself. They give me a terrible headache, but you don't know when you pick people up - until they get in the car. What would be the etiquette for this? Get out of my car you're giving me a headache? I don't think I could ever do that? Suggestions?[?] Kristin Weaver

	How about just cracking the windows (at least 2 of them) slightly for airflow and saying "sorry...your cologne/perfume is a bit strong for me" KeithO

	This morning I had a male driver in a grayish, newer Jeep pull out of the Rt. 3 commuter lot and then tell us he had to make a stop to pick up his dry cleaning. Totally unacceptable.

	It can feel like you're in a remote area when you're the last one there at 6:00 at night, and the HOV lanes have closed, and no-one else comes to stand in line, and no one stops to give you a ride. And, no, I don't show up at 6:00 p.m., sometimes I have had to wait a long time (over 30 minutes). It does state in the guidelines not to leave a woman alone. I think they mean later in the day. When rides don't happen, and it gets late, it can be a bit worrying, especially if you're the only one standing on a corner looking lonesome in the dark in winter! No, it isn't Beirut, but it is a major metropolitan city, and things can happen. And, men running (or walking REALLY fast) to get to the ride ahead of the person walking at a normal rate is very cheesy, although not against the rules. I've seen it happen a number of times myself. Let's be kind to each other and have some manners.

	A couple of days ago, I was going from the Pentagon to Horner and got in a car with a driver dressed in a security or rent-a-cop uniform. About the time we were passing the Mark Center, he started messing with his cell phone like he was sending a text. He had already spent the time from the Pentagon till then talking on the phone. I politely asked if he would wait until he dropped us off before he texted. He said he wasn't texting and I should mind my own business. I mentioned to him it was actually against the law to be messing with his phone. He then told me that he never asked me to get in the car. I told him, yes he did when he pulled up to the slug line. He then threatened to put me out on the side of the HOV. A short time later we came upon a policeman giving a ticket. I asked him to pull over and let me out behind the policeman. He didn't. We basically traveled in silence until the Horner lot. After I got out, I leaned into the car and said "You know you were wrong!" and closed the door. What a jerk. I wish I had his license plate number to give out. I wouldn't ride with him again.

	Just the other morning a nice lady at the Tackett's lot was waiting for slugs. I got in and about 30 seconds later when we started to roll I realized I had sat in an ash tray. Cigarette smoke generally doesnt make me sick, but this SUV smelled like 30 years worth of ash and smoke. I think she smoked a few before picking us up. When we both got out we looked at each other like OMG our poor lungs! As far as the perfume goes I know the bathed in perfume smell. I myself wear a very light Burberry perfume and only apply one spray. I hope it doesn't offend anyone. If I can't smell it on myself I assume it's not intoxicating. P.S. Watch the aftershave boys, it can be just as nauseating! [xx(]
